Malta`s rich historical and cultural heritage shaped up the art and craft scenery, which is growing bigger year after year, offering more authentic products and souvenirs in retails shops, as well as in online shops. Around Valletta During the village festas, there is a good offer of handmade items from Malta, including the food stalls with home made sweets.
On every other regular day, almost every street, village square and point of interest has a small booths or two, set up with knight mock up`s different sizes and colors, followed by the variety of products with the hand made lace, with summer umbrellas and pillowcases, each featuring a Maltese cross.
Apart from the street art and mass production, there is also a famous Mdina Glass, hand blown art made out from colorful glass, shaped by the skilled artists. Many other items made out of clay and carved rock can be found in souvenir shops, and sometimes these are religiously inspired. It is interesting to mention the Art Festival in Sliema, held in mid July, which reminds of artist colony, featuring all innovative artistic novelties, with a label "Made in Malta".
If you would like to see yourself authentic craft and souvenir production, make your way to the Ta`Qali Craft Village, located on the outskirts of Mdina, and you shall find artist working on their projects, in front of the visitors. Public buses going there are: 56, 186, 202.
